Imagine a place where serious manufacturers look like kids on Christmas! That was the S4J Manufacturing experience at IMTS.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for manufacturers that is. This past week our CEO, Doug Gyure, and the S4J Manufacturing managers trekked to the Windy City for the 2018 International Manufacturing Technology Show. This biannual event is one of the largest trade shows in the world and is the premier manufacturing technology show in North America.
With over 1.4 million square feet of exhibiting space and over 2500 exhibiting companies, Doug and company had a busy four days. They were especially interested in precision-turning machinery, cutting tools, inspection and washing equipment, and customized hand tools; any kind of equipment that helps us create a better product for our customers. We certainly enjoyed learning about the smaller, for example we got to play with a new flexible de-burring material that we think we could incorporate with great success (see picture on the right). However, the thing that brings out the kid in all manufacturers is entering the machinery hall of the show, where you get to see firsthand the newest, most impressive products in action. Ultimately, the S4J team purchased a new precision-turning center that will add greater capability to completing products in just one set-up, and we are looking forward to implementing that soon.
S4J Manufacturing’s values of exceeding customer expectations and fanatical attention to detail means that we are constantly working towards staying on top of current manufacturing trends and always looking for opportunities to improve, and there is no better opportunity for that then at the IMTS.
Of course, getting to enjoy some classic Chicago deep dish pizza isn’t too bad either!
